Water quality and quantity are the lifeblood of Kitsap’s people and wildlife.

It is in the form of streams, aquifers, wetlands, rivers, and our surrounding seawater. The protection and balanced use of water is a critical consideration in wide-ranging decisions about transportation, housing, economic practices, and much more. KEC has especially focused in recent years on policies related to the county’s Critical Areas Ordinance (protective regulation) and its use.
